研究员 Supervisor of Doctorate Candidates
Haichao Xu is a Research Professor at Fudan University. He received his Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the Department of Physics, Fudan University, in 2014 and subsequently joined the Laboratory of Advanced Materials as a Junior Associate Research Professor. From 2016 to 2017, he carried out postdoctoral research in Professor Charles Ahn's group at the Department of Applied Physics, Yale University. He is currently a Research Professor at the Laboratory of Advanced Materials, Fudan University.
His research focuses on experimental condensed matter physics, particularly the investigation of electronic structures and emergent quantum states in quantum materials using advanced spectroscopic and scattering techniques, including angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and synchrotron-based X-ray scattering. He has published more than 50 papers in leading international journals, including Nature Communications and Physical Review Letters, with over 3,800 citations. He is currently supported by the Excellent Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and serves as a sub-project leader in a National Key Research and Development Program of China. He also teaches undergraduate courses including University Physics, Basic Physics Experiments, and Modern Physics Experiments.
Our research aims to uncover novel electronic states in quantum materials, including high-temperature superconductors, topological quantum materials, and strongly correlated electron systems. By utilizing world-class large-scale research facilities such as synchrotron radiation light sources, we directly probe the motion and interactions of electrons and explore the quantum mechanisms underlying emergent phenomena in complex materials.
We welcome undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers who are interested in condensed matter physics, quantum materials, synchrotron-based experiments, and interdisciplinary frontier research. Motivated undergraduate students who are considering a research career are encouraged to contact us early and may participate in research projects through undergraduate research programs or thesis work.
