Prior to joining Fudan University, Prof. Huiwen Yu worked as a postdoc in Professor Richard D. Braatz's group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Prof. Huiwen Yu earned his Ph.D. from the University of Copenhagen under the supervision of Professor Rasmus Bro, during which he also spent a visiting period at Harvard University. Prof. Huiwen Yu currently serves as a Tenure-Track Associate Professor at the Research Institute of Intelligent Complex Systems, Fudan University, where he leads several important scientific projects. He has been honored with a place on the "World Young Scientists List" by the World Young Scientists Forum and holds the MIT Kaufman Teaching Certificate for excellence in pedagogy.

Prof. Huiwen Yu's research primarily focuses on data-knowledge hybrid-driven statistical modeling and computational theories, methods, model and algorithms for intelligent analysis of complex systems, along with their interdisciplinary applications. Particularly, he has research interests on tensor computation, multiway/high-dimensional data analysis, complex high-order system modeling, intelligent optimization algorithms, chemometrics and medical statistics, as well as their interdisciplinary applications.
Over the past five years, Prof. Huiwen Yu has published nearly 30 papers in journals including Advanced Science, Applied Soft Computing, and Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems etc. These publications feature ESI Highly Cited Papers, Wiley Top Cited Articles, and Wiley Top Viewed Articles. He has also been invited to deliver oral presentations at some international conferences, including the International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM, Tokyo, Japan) and the AIChE Annual Meeting (San Diego, USA) etc.
