Rui Feng recieved Doctor of Engineering degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2003. He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor in School of Computer Science, Fudan University. He is also an affliated professor in Academy for Engineering and Technology, Fudan University, and an affliated principle investigator in Children’s Hospital, Fudan University. He is the founder and director of Cross-Media Intelligent Computing Laboratory (CMIT Lab). His research is focused on artificial intelligence, cross-media intelligence, video big data and medical image analysis. His work has been awarded or supported by the Shanghai Outstanding Academic Leader Plan, Suzhou Science and Technology Leading Talent Plan, National Key R&D Program, National Key Technology R&D Program, Central Guard Bureau Program, etc. He also serves as the committee member of Big Data Standardization Work Group from National Information Security Standardization Technical Committee, chairman of SAE International Artificial Intelligence Technology Committee, deputy head of the Overall Expert Group for the Medium and Long-term Development Plan of Artificial Intelligence in Shanghai, director of Digital Industry Big Data Research Institute of Suzhou Industrial Technology Research Institute, executive deputy director of Shanghai Engineering Research Center for Video Technology and System, deputy director of Shanghai Research Center of Precision Diagnosis and Treatment Engineering Technology for Ophthalmic Diseases, deputy director of Internet of Things Medical Laboratory from Shanghai Respiratory Diseases Institute, member of the Academic Committee of Shanghai Key Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence for Medical Image and Knowledge Graph, Senior Member of China Computer Federation (CCF), and chairman of CCF Young Computer Scientists & Engineers Forum (YOCSEF) Shanghai 2008-2009.

He has been awarded 1 provincial and ministerial science and technology first prize and 10 second prizes; published more than 100 papers and 1 monograph in Chinese and International journals and conferences; applied for nearly 100 national invention patents; obtained more than 30 software copyrights; presided over a number of national research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Science and Technology Innovation 2030-"New Generation Artificial Intelligence" Major Project, National Key R&D Program, National Major Project of Scientific and Technical Supporting Program, National High Technology Research and Development Program, and the Doctoral Fund of Ministry of Education.

He has led his team to accomplish the "Large-scale Venue Management System" and "Panoramic Visual and Multi-dimensional Information Fusion System". Since November 2012, these systems have played important roles in the 18th National Congress of the CPC, the NPC & CPPCC over the years, the 9.3 military parade and some other major CPC and state events. In addition, he also led to develop more than 40 practically applied products and systems, which have been successfully deployed and demonstrated in the national core areas, Xinjiang, Shanghai and other places. The developed products and equipment have successfully passed the product installation test, product appraisal and was officially installed for use by the Ministry of Public Security in 2014. The developed massive video information processing platform has the ability to analyze and process TB/s-level high-definition video data online, and has been successfully applied and demonstrated in anti-terrorism and anti-riot program in Xinjiang and the national core areas.
